The Saddest Instrument Français

Privacy

6 October 2026

The Saddest Instrument collects nothing about you. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. It never connects to the internet and never uses the microphone.

What stays on your device

Your settings (scale, tonic, registers, sound) and which excerpt will open the app next are saved on your device, in the app’s own storage. They are never sent anywhere. Like the rest of your apps’ data, they are part of the backups you make of your device, and deleting the app erases them.

Films

When you film, the app records the image of the threads and the sound of the instrument into a temporary file on your device. The sound is taken straight from the instrument, never from the microphone.

When you close the film, the temporary file is deleted. Only what you chose to keep or share remains, where you put it. Anything left over from an earlier session is swept away the next time the app opens.

Photos

The app asks for access to Photos only when you choose to save a film, and only to add it: it cannot see, read or change the photos and videos already there. You can change this at any time in Settings on iPhone and iPad, or in System Settings on Mac.

Sharing

When you choose to share a film, it goes through your device’s own share sheet (the share menu on Mac), to the app or person you pick. The app does not send it anywhere by itself. From there, the privacy policy of the app you shared it with applies.

What the app never does

Apple

The App Store handles the purchase and the download. We never receive your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass on anonymous crash reports and overall statistics, under Apple’s privacy policy. The app itself sends nothing.

If you write to us

If you email contact@baron-creation.com, we receive your address and your message. We use them only to answer you, never share them, and keep them no longer than the conversation needs.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other servers: its fonts and images are served from here. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, handles technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask us to see or delete the messages you sent us. Since the app collects nothing, we hold nothing else about you. You can also complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
